Sri Krishna Janmastami 2022 Mohotsav was celebrated in a grand scale at ISKCON Coimbatore on Aug 19/20th . More than 35,000 devotees visited the temple to partake in the festivities. Among the many guests , the Chief Guest, Honourable Union Minister of culture and tourism , Sri. G. Kishan Reddy presided over the function and spoke eloquently on ISKCON’s social contributions and revival of culture and tradition. He praised ISKCON devotees sacrifice and selfless contributions all over the world. Sri. Annamalai, State BJP president who was also present, glorified ISKCON s contribution in distributing food to one and all and especially to the children of India in the mid day meal scheme. Sri V K Singh , secretary Textiles also visited the celebrations and expressed his profuse appreciation of ISKCON’s activities and the truth of Janmashtami explained.
His Holiness Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj, Trustee of ISKCON and Zonal Secretary for Kerala and Tamilnadu, delivered anugraha prabhashanam bringing all to the understanding of what Janmashtami means to us, and how it can elevate the souls of this world through the culture of Krishna Consciousness as described in the Bhagavad Gita. He thanked our founder gratefully for ushering Krishna consciousness into the world as his 125th birth anniversary celebrations came to a close this year.
Other prominent dignitaries present were , Prof. Dr. E. BalaGuruswamy(Former Vice Chancellor), Padmasri. Dr. G. Bhaktavatsalam, Dr Ashok Bhaktavatsalam . Sri. Bhupal Reddy, Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Sri. Anbarasan(Chairman, Nallaram Trust) and Sri. Jayaram (MLA) presided over and distributed prizes to Performers of cultural programs. The City’s Commissioner of Police also attended the function.
Children enthusiastically exhibited models depicting Krishna’s pastimes, and explained to visitors pastimes of Lord in the stalls, along with boys (SPARK), girls group (Yajnasevini), & Bhaktivriksha groups, who also interacted and impacted visitors along with many other volunteers who helped organise and put up the festival.
Hundreds of individuals connected and contributed to Kovai Chandra Project KCP: Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple construction with atmost enthusiasm. Akanda Nama Sankirtan, Special prayers, Deeparadhana, Astotra-sata-Kalasabhishekam offerings to Sri Sri Radha Krishna were performed with great devotional fervour. ISKCON Coimbatore thanks all devotees, donors, dignitaries for their overwhelming support and contribution in making the festival grand success.
